![]() In a last ditch effort to win the war, the Brotherhood then struck NCR Gold Reserves at Redding, destroying them, and tanking the NCR Economy. Though the war was bloody, and blindsided the NCR, they fought back viciously, using their superior manpower and logistics to drive the Brotherhood back into their bunkers. Eventually, this sparked into full scale war, when the Brotherhood suddenly attacked NCR positions. However, after the fall of the Enclave, the Brotherhood, under Elder Jeremy Maxson, grew paranoid of the NCR, believing that any advanced technology should be confiscated from them. Though heavy casualties were taken, the Enclave forces were either driven off, or wiped out, and the NCR recovered a treasure trove of Vertibirds, Plasma Weapons, Power Armour, and more. ![]() With the main threat eliminated, the NCR focused on destroying the remnants, before they could reorganise.įorming an alliance with the reclusive Brotherhood of Steel, NCR Forces under the command of the young General Alexander Drummond made an assault on the Enclave's largest remaining base, Camp Navarro. The threat was eventually ended by the Chosen One of the tribal village of Arroyo the grandchild of the original Vault Dweller, when they boarded the Enclave's Oil Rig, destroying its reactor, killing their President, and their monster, Frank Horrigan. Known as the Enclave, they began their work to wipe out anyone they considered a mutant, which included every single wastelander. However, in the year 2241, the wasteland came under threat of an old enemy the pre-war government itself. In 2186, the first five states of the NCR Shady Sands, Los Angeles, Maxson, Hub, and Dayglow, formally became the New California Republic, with Aradesh serving as the first President, later succeeded by Tandi. In the aftermath of the Vault Dweller's defeat of the Master, Aradesh and Tandi soon began laying down the groundwork for the New California Republic, contacting other cities and villages such as the Boneyard, the Hub, Junktown, Maxson, and many more, offering them a choice to unite under one banner, which each town accepted. The Vault Dweller aided the residents of Shady Sands greatly, teaching them of crop rotation, and rescuing Mayor Aradesh's daughter, Tandi, from one of the raider tribes, the Khans. Beset on all sides by the other occupants of Vault 15, who had descended into violent raiding tribes, Shady Sands as a town struggled for much of its life, until the arrival of a Vault Dweller from Vault 13, searching for a water chip. Formed by occupants of Vault 15, what would become the New California Republic originally began life as a small village called 'Shady Sands'.
